Q. An electron gun consists of two parallel, oppositely charged, flat plates (see diagram in Moodle). A nearly uniform electric field exists between these plates. The positively charged plate has a hole in the center, through which, high speed electrons exit. The electrons are initially at rest in the electric field near the negatively charged plate. The field causes the electrons to accelerate and pass through the hole in the positively charged plate. Calculate each of the following if the electrons exit the field with a speed of 4.45x106 m/s and the distance between the plates is 2.07 cm.
Find the potential energy lost by the electron as it passes through the electron gun.
Find the potential difference between the charged plates.
Find the strength of the electric field between the plates of the electron gun.
You've been walking at a steady, and rope pulls up on the sled at a 21 angle. You estimate that the mass of the sled, with your friend on it, is 64 and that you're pulling with a force of 84.0.
If his arms are capable of exerting a force of 1400 on the vine, what is the maximum speed he can tolerate at the lowest point of his swing? His mass is 82, and the vine is 6.00 long.
A 43kg block of ice slides down the frictionless incline 1.50m long and 0.82m high. A worker pushes up against the ice, parallel to the incline, so that the block slides down at constant speed.
A 56.0 kg person jumps from rest off the 9.0 m high tower straight down into the water. Neglect air resistance throughout the descent. She comes to rest 3.40 m under the surface of the water. Find out the magnitude of the average force that the water..
