Assignment:

Image you are a young free man living in New York in approximately 1776. The American Revolutionary War is just beginning and you are grappling with whether or not to join the army.

You decide to join the army, and in a series of three diary entries you will answer the following questions:

  1. In the first diary entry written before the war, explain what your life was like before the war and describe your considerations for joining the army;
  2. In the second diary entry written during the war, explain what your life is like and describe any doubts that you might have;
  3. In the final diary entry documenting your life after the war, explain how you feel about America.
