2. Some would argue that companies not only have an obligation to the organization, but have an obligation to act ethically in the best interest of society as a whole. Examples we discussed included Imclone, Enron, the U.S. Banking industry, Worldcom, and Johnson and Johnson (Tylenol) to name a few. Discuss your views of whether or not a company should consider society when conducting business. Use a specific company as an example, and support your argument on their ethical approach and how it impacted society.

Managers must have the ability to not only understand ethical issues and resolve them effectively, but also to appreciate the challenges of ethical decision making and ethical conduct in organizational settings (Boatright, 2012). Discuss the importance of understanding the impacts of ethics with regard to sales, marketing, distribution, product safety, or advertising.
