Case Study: The purpose of this case study is to decipher properties of acid based chemistry and how they adhere to LeChatelier's Principle.

YZ, a 55 yr old male was up at 5 am. He sufferes from Keratoconjunctivitis sicca and used RESTASIS daily. He had not put in his contacts for the day and grabbed his VOLSOL HC optic drops and put those in accidentially. He was in extreme pain and taken to the ER. The ER flushed his eyes with a saline drip for an hour. He was released and recommended to use COLLYRIUM for fresh eyes for discomfort. YZ read the labels on all of these products and was shocked to see acid as one of the ingredients in the drops recemmended by the ER. He calls the pharmacy to inquire about this. You are the pharmacist and given the call.

1.) What are the primary uses of the 3 products mentioned?

2.) What are the ACTIVE ingredients?

3.) Why did the acid from the VOLSOL HC drops hurt his eyes but not the acid in the COLLYRIUM for fresh eyes?

4.) Explain the purpose of the acid in EACH of the products.
