A solution is prepared by adding 20.0 mL of 0.100 M KI to 20.0 mL of 0.100 M AgNO3. The potential of the solution is measured with a silver indicator electrode with respect to the saturated calomel electrode. Use activities in this problem.

a) Use the reduction half reaction Ag+ + e- ?? Ag(s) to calculate the potential measured by the silver electrode.

b) Use the reduction half reaction AgI (s) + e- ?? Ag(s) + I- to calculate the potential measured by the silver electrode.

c) Is your answer in (b) consistent with your result in part (a)? Why or why not?
