Could anyone assist on this problem? At a wastewater treatment plant, FeCl3 (s) is added to remove excess phosphate from the effluent. Assume the following reactions occur: FeCl_3_ (s) <---> (Fe^3+) + (3Cl^1-) [underscores are subscript, carrot is superscript] (Fe^3+) + (PO_4_^3-) <---> FePO_4_ (s) The equilibrium constant for the second reaction is 10^26.4. What concentration of Fe^3+ is needed to maintain the phosphate concentration below the limit of 1 mg P/L? Any help on how to do or even start the problem would be great.
