Task details:

Intelligent systems are technologically advanced machines that perceive and respond to the world around them. Intelligent systems have played a very active role in society's economic and technological transformation. For industrial value chains and international businesses, it means that a structural change is necessary since these machines can learn and apply new information in making forecasts, processing, and interacting with people. These systems use powerful enough techniques, strategies, and mathematical modelling to tackle complex actual problems. Because of its inevitable progress further into the future, there have been considerable safety and ethical concerns. In this context, the goal of this assessment is to investigate the emerging trends of intelligent systems (the benefits that it brings to the society), the moral challenges that come from ethical algorithms, learned or pre-set ideals, as well as discussing the ethical issues and malpractices of such systems.

To complete this assessment, students will choose an intelligent system and write a report to analyse it.

The report must follow the following structure:

Abstract. The abstract gives a summary of your report.

Introduction. Explain the background, the history of the intelligent system.

Key technical challenges. Explain the major technical challenges in both hardware and software the intelligent system faces. When describing technical challenges, you are required to not only list all the major technical challenges, but also explain why they are challenges by providing evidence.

Case study. Give at least two examples of the intelligent system, describe their hardware architectures and software architectures, including all the major components of both hardware and software with sufficient technical details, and compare them.

Ethical issues. Discuss ethical issues related to the intelligent system.

Future trend. Explain how the intelligent system would progress in the future.

References. All sources used in this assignment must be properly cited using a specific referencing style, e.g., Harvard. Failure to do so will be treated as plagiarism. In-text citations are essential.

Your report should have a balanced structure and around 70% of your report should describe the technical challenges and the case study.

All sources of information must be cited using the Harvard referencing style. Ensure that you follow the proper format for in-text citations and the reference list.

Also, students must submit a presentation video of approximately 6 minutes to summarise the report.
