A coin dealer heated gold (specific heat = 0.129 J. g -1 . C -1) coins to 100.0 degress C in boling water and then dropped the hot coins into 43.0 g of water at a temperature of 15.5 C in a coffee cup calorimeter. The final temperature of the water and the coins was 21.5 C.
