Assignment:
OVERVIEW
Most nonprofit boards underperform because they focus only on the fiduciary and strategic modes of governance. It is critical for boards to grasp how they can get started and gain traction with governance as leadership through consequential governance. It is only then they typically will begin to experience board meeting optimization and true productivity.
INSTRUCTIONS
After reviewing the material for the module, address the following in a current APA format ('Professional' version) paper:
1. Consider optimized board meetings, discuss why boards are not really designed to provided consequential governance
2. In this module's video clip, the Stanford Graduate School of Business experts describe how boards evolve, that is, they move from a task-oriented mindset to being policy- oriented (and subsequently the fiduciary, strategic and generative) because of numerous catalysts. Describe at least 3 of these critical 'pivot points.'
3. Explain the differences of generative governance
4. Describe the initial steps in moving to higher purpose and optimizing performance (getting started)
5. The bible has been described as a grand narrative (creation, fall, redemption, and restoration), and we mature in our Christian walk. Similar to boards 'growing up' as described above, what does the bible say about our spiritual maturation.
