Can someone continue on what I already have please. Water cannot be used as a solvent for the Diels-Alder reaction between maleic anhydride and 1,3-cyclopentadiene because. anhydrides are reactive toward water and it is important that the apparatus and reagents you use are dry to mazimize the yield of the cycloadduct.
