Please read the following scriptures.

Hebrews 4:9-11

As we study theology, we must always ask the question of how this theology impacts our lives today. Studying the theology of holiness in Scripture is not any different. If theology does not have a connection to our everyday lives, then we are Deists. Deism is based on reason, rather than faith in God. It is the belief that God has created everything, but then has left it on its own to fend for itself. When it comes to the doctrine of holiness, we can often be practical Deists. We acknowledge God created us to be holy, but we act as if he is not involved in making us holy.

This week, you will be challenged with the question. How can I rest from my own works, but at the same time make every effort to live the holy life? The paradox discussed in last week's workshop continues as you work to discover the balance between our responsibility as Christians to live a holy life and the work God does to make us holy.
