At 1atm pressure, ice melts at 273.15K. In addition, ΔHfus = 6.009 kJ/mol, density of ice = 0.92g/cm3,and density of liquid water = 1.00g/cm3.

a) What is the melting point of ice under 50 atm pressure?

b) The blade of an ice skate is ground to a knife edge on each side of the skate. If the width of the knife edge is 0.001in., and the length of the skate in contact with the ice is 3 in., calculate the pressure exerted on the ice by a 150lb man. (Assume that the skater uses one edge.)

c) What is the melting point of ice under this pressure?
