The ultimate source of all chemical products is the earth (including its water and atmosphere). Sulfuric acid is a good example. It is made from burning sulfur in air to make sulfur trioxide then reacting the sulfur trioxide with water.

1. We wish to produce 1 American Ton of pure sulfuric acid (H2SO4) from sulfur (S), oxygen gas (O2), and water (H2O).

a. How many gram moles of sulfuric acid is this?

b. how many gram moles of sulfur is required? How many tons of sulfur is this?

c. how many gram moles of oxygen gas is required? How many tons of O2 is this?
