The fluoridation of city water supplies has been practiced in the United States for several decades. It is done by continuously adding sodium fluoride to water as it comes from reservoir. Assume you live in a medium sized city of 150,000 people and that 660L of water is consumed per person per day. What mass of sodium fluoride, NaF, in kg must be added to the water supply each year (365days) to have the required fluoride concentration of 1ppm (part per million) that is, 1 kg of fluoride per 1 million kg of water? Sodium fluoride is 45% fluoride by mass (45kg F/100 kg NaF), and water has a density of 1.00g/cm3. The answer is supposedly 80,300 kg please show me how they got this?
