Discuss a scenario where two-sample hypothesis testing might be useful for you.
Explain what a type 1 error would mean for this scenario.
Explain what a type 2 error would mean.

Something in police work, preferably.
I would like 2 examples, with a discussion of priori alpha level and evaluate the p value associated with the z statistic.

Also, a meaningful response to the following item, rather than some sort of "Gee, that's interesting!" (It's hard to respond to simple examples with something meaningful, if you know what I mean).

I am a competitive archer. I want to know how my average round compares to that of my normal competitor. To examine, I will use a two-sample hypothesis test where pi1 is my average score.

Ho: pi1 = pi2
Ha: pi1 <> pi2

I could set the level of significance at .05 and use the Z-statistic. If the p-value is less than .05, I would reject the null. If not, I would fail to reject the null.

A Type 1 Error would mean that I reject the null hypothesis of equal because of a different result. I may have incorrectly assumed our averages scores were closer to one another

A Type 2 Error would mean that I don't reject the null hypothesis even when I should have.
