One of the important factors that must be taken into consideration is the isoelectric point (pI) of a protein when one is interested in separating and purifying proteins present in complex mixtures. Explain how pI influences the following processes, and how differences in pI can be exploited to produce a desired separation of Electrophoresis and Cation exchange chromatography.
