Allegory: a narrative which serves as the extended metaphor. Allegories are written in form of fables, parables, poems, stories, and around any other style or genre. Major purpose of allegory is to tell story that has characters, a setting, also other kinds of symbols, which have both literal and figurative meanings.
1. Write down the one-paragraph (complete, coherent and organized paragraph) description of how you reacted to this reading. Did you like it? Did you find it hard? Was it easy? Why did you like or dislike it? Be particular, please. Use one or two quotes or paraphrases from text to describe your reaction.
2. According to definition of allegory, it must have literal meaning. Write down the one-paragraph summary of what happened in story - pretend friend who has not read it asked you to tell them what it was about. Su-up the story for them.
3. According to definition of allegory, it must also have figurative meaning. This recommends that story means more than what appears on page, that there is deeper, more symbolic meaning to piece. Take at least one paragraph to describe what you believe figurative meaning of this allegory is. What was Plato attempting to explore here? What is he saying about theme? Use few quotes and paraphrases to support description.
