A rigid ( ie. Constant volume), non-conducting ( ie. Perfectly insulated, no heat losses or gain) tank with a volume of 3.3 m^3. The tank is divided into two unequal parts by a thin membrane. One side of the membrane representing 1/3 of the tank is filled with nitrogen ( may be assumed to be an ideal gas) at 4.1 bar and 315.6 K. The other side of the membrane is evacuated. The membrane ruptures and the gas fills the entire tank. Heat capacity of nitrogen, Cp=3.5 R.
what measuring device would you use to measure the volume under each of the conditions described below? in some cases
Consider the reaction CH3Br(aq) + OH-(aq) ? CH3OH(aq) + Br-(aq). How would each of the following changes affect the rate of the forward reaction? a) addition of OH-? b) decrease in volume of the solution
If the pressure of gaseious chloroform in a flask is 195 mm Hg at 25 degrees celsius and its density is 1.25 g/l, what is the molar mass of chloroform?
KHC8H4O4, was prepared by dissolving 0.4877 g of potassium hydrogen phthalate in about 50 mL of water. Titration with a KOH solution required 18.81 mL to reach a phenolphthalein end point. What is the molarity of the KOH solution
The solution of iron (III) chloride used in this experiment is 0.02M. Determine the amount of iron (III) chloride hexahrdrate
The mass of an Argon atom is more than that of a Helium atom. Does that mean that because of Argon has larger mass, it exerts a higher pressure on the walls of container than Helium at the same volume, molar density and temperature? Give explanati..
Select all of the correct statements about equilibrium from the choices below. At equilibrium the rates of forward and reverse reactions are equal. As a reaction proceeds forward toward equilibrium the forward rate constant drops.
One drop of 1N HCl is added to the stirred solution which is heated in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes. on cooling a precipitate is deposited which is collected and recrystallized in absolute alcohol. What is the product of this reaction
What is the enthalpy of this reaction? Assume that no heat is lost to the surroundings or to the coffee cup itself.
