I. Study Chapter 2, "Separate the People from the Problem" and Chapter 3, "Focus on Interests, Not Positions," in Getting to Yes.

II. Conduct some research on sources of conflict and conflict resolution best practices to prepare you for your internal discussions with your teammates. Be prepared to suggest an approach to resolving any internal conflicts.

III. Study the interests analyses provided to you by your teammates. Compare and contrast the interests of your role to the interests identified for the other members of your negotiating team. Identify potential sources of conflict, including from personal variables, structure, or communication issues.

IV. Meet with your teammates to discuss and resolve these conflicts. Establish agreement on the team's priorities.

V. As a team, prepare a Team Contract and Research Plan. This must include:

1. An explanation of the sources of internal conflict within your team (1-2 pages).

2. A description (1-2 pages) of the process your team used to resolve these sources of conflict and to agree upon the priorities for your upcoming external negotiation. Explain how you chose this conflict resolution strategy.

3. A prioritized list of your team's interests that you intend to jointly pursue in the upcoming external negotiation. Include at least 5 interests, with a brief explanation for each (1-2 pages).

4. A plan for addressing research needs in preparation for the upcoming external negotiation. Identify what information your team needs to know, how you can acquire this information, and who will be responsible for doing the research. When preparing this analysis, consider the interests of all the stakeholders you have previously identified. Expect to have to educate yourself not only on the details of the issues at hand, but also on the context of those issues (2 - 3 pages).

VI. This Team Contract and Research Plan should be formatted in a professional manner and in clear, concise language. Be sure to cite your sources for any best practices you utilized.

VII. The Team Contract and Research Plan are due according to your team PBL Plan, but no later than by the end of Workshop Four.
