In the following experiment, the water in the glass is stirred by slowly lowering a weight (m=3kg) through a series of pulleys. If the 3kg weight is lowered 10m, the stirrer spins, but eventually all of the kinetic energy of the stirrer is turned into heat. a. How much energy is transferred into the water by dropping the 3 kg weight 10m? Assume frictionless pulleys. b. How large would the temperature rise be if there is 2 kg of water in the container? Assume no heat losses, constant pressure of 1 atm, and that the temperature of water is initially at 25 C.
