It is evident that taking risk is critical for growth, increasing the comfort zone and achieving success. In this regard, planning gives one confidence to take the risk that others may find it challenging to do so thus giving one an extra edge without worrying much about competition. Individuals who fear taking risk may have minimal chances of fulfilling their vision, and their success may be short-lived. Nonetheless, if the risks involved are not determined ahead of time through effective planning, taking risk may lead to losses and adversity. When one plans, they identify themselves with the associated risk, weigh and categorize them, prioritize and coming up with a response plan. In this manner, one is in a position to transform risks into opportunities thus experiencing the rewards of achieving them. It is devastating that a lot of people fail to success during challenging times since they never anticipate or they lack the plan on how to respond to them.
As a result, planning guides one become assertive in taking risks as they are well aware of the barriers they expect along the way. For instance, a server at a local restaurant may feel that his/ her work is physically and psychological draining and the rewards that come with it are way low beyond their expectations and may plan to quit their job and become self-employed in an aim of using the skills and knowledge developed along the way to guide them in achieving success. The risk the server takes while quitting the restaurant may be challenging at first, but with proper planning, he/she may achieve the desired results if they maintain their planning methods while at the same time understanding that in the way to success, challenges have to come along the way that shapes one's success.
