Acetic acid is a monoprotic acid and thus the reaction stoichiometry is 1:1. that is one mole of sodium hydroxide will neutralize one mole of acetic acid. However, is equation n(acid) = n(base) = M(acid)*V(acid) =M(base)*V(base) valid for di- or poly-protic acids? How would you have to modify it if the unknow acid were sulfuric acid?
