Topic: You have been recently hired as the Digital Capabilities Director for Luv-a-Pet (LAP), an Australian "pet sharing" chain. Luv-a-Pet is a service that matches available pets (dogs, cats, etc) to shared owners. The target customers of LAP are typically busy professionals who would love to care for a pet but due to circumstances such busy work schedules or have careers that require frequent traveling are unable to solely care for a pet full time. Prospective pet owners apply on the platform by answering a questionnaire and providing their details such as names, home addresses, times of the year available to care for a pet, any planned overseas trips (as applicable), number of people in household and ages (important for types of pets that are sensitive to children), type of pet/s preferred. The software then analyses the best fit for shared ownership and when both parties agree (to the share the pet), Luv-a-Pet manages the logistics between owners based on the agreed schedule. LAP charges an annual fee to manage both matching and logistics. Both owners sign a shared agreement upon payment (online payment).
The company has 3 LAP branches in New South Wales and 2 branches in Victoria with a total of 2,000 customers (and growing!), 10-20 full time and part-time employees in each location including groomers and vets to ensure the health of the pets. Through previous research efforts with the Director of Marketing, you have decided to propose to your CEO the potential for an additional revenue stream by recommending pet friendly vacations by enhancing the capability to intelligently match the existing customers to third party pet friendly tour companies (provided the members consented to the collection and sharing of data).
