Enzyme X is a highly pigmented protein that imparts the characteristic color to certain blue-green algae. It also facilitates a reaction necessary to the survival of this species; we can follow the kinetics of this reaction by measuring the conversion of Substance X to Substance Y at various times during purification.
I'm trying to understand what the question is asking and how to set up the answer.
1. Given a pure preparation of these algae, and the required supplies and equipment, devise and outline an empirical procedure for purifying Enzyme X.
2. What is a good indication of purity in your preparation?
If 19.0 mL of 0.800 M HCl solution are needed to neutralize 5.00 rm mL of a household ammonia solution, what is the molar concentration of the ammonia?
Hard water at home contains dissolved ions (ex. Ca2+ & Mg2+) that react with soap to form a nasty gray substance. Because this gray stuff would ruin your clothes
The student then titrated 25.0 ml of the same buffer with 0.1115 M NaOH. The observed titration curve is shown below
element z has two isotopes: one has mass number of 19.0 amu is 55.0% abundant, and the isotope with mass number 21.0 amu is 45.0% abundant. what is the average atomic mass for element Z?
5 moles of sodium bromide NaBr is mixed with 3 mole of butanol CH3CH2CH2OH to yield 99 g of bromobutane CH3CH2CH2CH2Br
"Besides the traditional colorimetric acid/base indicators, there is another class that doesn't use color, the olfactory acid-base indicators! These compounds smell or don't smell based on their pH
State whether each of the following experimental errors would raise or lower the mass of the recovered product:
At 400°K , 0.20 M NO and 0.10 M Cl2 were mixed. The reaction rate was found to be 3.04 ? 10-6 M/s. What is the value of the rate constant, k?
derive Raoul's law using the chemical potentials of the constituents that make up the mixture of the solution.
0.158g of a barium halide is completely precipitated out of H2SO4 and 0.124g of barium sulfate are produced. what is the true formula of the compound.
PCl5 + 4H2O > 5HCl +H3PO4. How many total moles of acid are formed when starting with 4.5 g of PCl5 and excess H2O.
Substance A has a greater molar mass then substance B. Both are nonelectrolytes. If 50 g of substance A are dissolved in 250 g of water in one beaker
