A scenario where a child is afraid of dogs is the one, I would use as an example of escape behavior. When a dog is around, the child is going to run away to avoid being bitten or attacked. Since the child is being reinforced by the removal of an aversive stimulus (the dog), this behavior is an example of negative reinforcement. The aversive stimulus' existence, which indicates a need for escape, keeps this reinforcement going. When the negative stimulus is removed, the behavior is further continued, reinforcing the child's tendency to run away the next time a dog approaches.
