Question

Evidence-based management (EBM) is a leadership and decision-making approach applied in everyday work environments. It is primarily utilized by experts to assess whether the evidence they have is reliable enough for making decisions. By using these theories and data, evidence-based management enhances the likelihood of making smarter decisions. Our textbook (Robbins & Judge 2019) defines EBM as Basing managerial decisions on the best available scientific evidence. I would take it a step further and state that using more than just the scientific evidence is necessary to make a good/sound management decision.

Utilizing Evidence-Based Management (EBM) is especially crucial in the realm of hiring management personnel, as it guarantees that decisions are grounded in the most robust evidence, thereby fostering outcomes that are both effective and dependable. By using data, research, and physical evidence, EBM decreases bias and relies on proven strategies rather than intuition or outdated practices. This approach helps in identifying candidates who possess the skills, competencies, and behaviors that are necessary for successful management performance. EBM promotes accountability and transparency in the hiring process, making it easier to justify decisions and improve future hiring practices. Ultimately, employing EBM in hiring management personnel enhancer's organizational performance and helps build a more competent and effective leadership team.

To find the ideal candidate for creating and leading a virtual customer service team, the recruiter should systematically search for resumes that meet several key criteria: leadership skills, creativity, customer service expertise, and technological proficiency. Given the virtual nature of the role, technology skills and knowledge are particularly crucial. The recruiter can initially filter out resumes that do not meet any of these criteria, then further narrow down the pool by eliminating those that only satisfy one or two categories. This process will leave a selection of candidates who meet most or all of the required qualifications. The next step involves interviewing these candidates to gain additional insights not evident from their resumes, such as employment gaps or how their skills specifically apply to this role. After conducting and reviewing the interviews, the recruiter can make an informed decision on the best candidate for the position and extend a job offer.
