Assessment Instructions
This assessment invites you to collaborate in small groups to explore the role and importance of having a diverse group within a specific industry. The objective is to create and deliver a presentation that raises awareness of diversity-related challenges while proposing a meaningful, theory-informed strategy to enhance inclusion and innovation in the workplace. Groups will consist of no more than four students, and the facilitator will randomly assign each group a Diversity Group from a pre- determined selection.
The task unfolds across three workshops. During Workshop 10, your group will be formed and participate in a preliminary in-class brainstorming workshop activity to discuss the significance of your assigned Diversity Group and select an industry in which this group is to be examined, such as IT, Health Services, or Tourism and Hospitality. During this activity, your group will also generate and refine a ChatGPT prompt to explore the best strategy that addresses a key diversity and inclusion barrier within the chosen industry.
During Workshop 11, your group will continue working collaboratively, with time allocated to consult ChatGPT again, this time to evaluate one way your assigned Diversity Group can add value to the selected industry. This could include contributions to creativity, revenue generation, innovation, or cultural intelligence. Both AI-generated responses should be evaluated and supported with Diversity and Inclusion theories from Workshops 9 and 10, and ethical business frameworks introduced in Workshop 11.
Your group will consolidate this work into a PowerPoint Slide Deck of 10-12 slides, which must be submitted before your scheduled week 12 class. While PowerPoint is the standard format, alternative presentation tools such as Canva or Prezi may also be used, provided they meet the required format and are submitted as a single, accessible file. The slide deck must include in-text citations and a reference slide listing a minimum of five academic sources, presented in a clear and consistent format.
During Workshop 12, your group will deliver a presentation of no more than 7 minutes, supported by the submitted slides. Each group member must contribute equally to both the content development and the presentation delivery. Unequal contributions may result in individual grade adjustments.
This assessment provides an opportunity to demonstrate effective teamwork, responsible and ethical use of GenAI tools, and the application of academic theory to real-world diversity challenges. High-quality submissions will reflect thoughtful collaboration, well-reasoned analysis, and clear communication of inclusive strategies supported by scholarly evidence.
