Nationalism Around the World - Nationalist Journal

You are a maturing political leader from 'Nation X. Nation X is on the verge of gaining its independence and is beginning to form its own identity. You have been sent on a world trip by your party to observe and learn from Nationalist-inspired attempts at reform/change around the globe.

Your goal is to collect as much information about these movements as you can, while deciding which aspects can be useful for Nation X.

You will create a journal of your observations for each regional location you visit (3 entries total).

Consider the following guiding statements/questions:

a. Describe the Nationalist movements/ideas you observe along with the country's name. Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?

b. Evaluate the effects these movements and influences have had on this nation
- Would you consider their Nationalist movements "successful? Completed? In progress? What kinds of identities are being emphasized/discouraged?

- What aspects/components of "Nationalisms" you observed will you bring back to "Nation X"? How will your trip affect policy-making for "Nation X"?

Each journal entry should use some of your prior knowledge from class, but additional research will be necessary (cite your sources").

- Each journal entry should be 400-500 words
