Purpose statement:

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects that Video Self Modeling (VSM) has on the increase of independent playing in children diagnosed with ASD.

Independent variable:

The independent variable is the practice of Video Modeling to increase the ability of independent play for children diagnosed with ASD. The client is able to self-observe the behavior (playing with a particular item) and being able to replicate the same actions in order to increase their ability to play independently.

Dependent variable:

The dependent variable is classified as playing independently. The client is able to engage with the identified item from the video and replicate the engagement seen in the video. This does not include the client playing with most of what the item displays, but fully engaged with the entirety of the item displayed in the video.
