Question

The reasonable person standard (formerly called the "reasonable man" standard) was created as a way for courts to evaluate the defendant's actions from an objective rather than a subjective viewpoint. The reasonable person standard routinely poses the question: Would a reasonable person have acted the same way as the defendant? If the answer is no, the defendant is likely to be found at fault for the plaintiff's injuries.
