Assessment - Case Analysis
Assessment- Case Study / Problem Based Learning
Description
You have been asked to read and analyse a case study (to be posted in CANVAS) and complete an individual case analysis report. You are expected to demonstrate theoretical understanding of important aspects of branding and your ability to apply marketing theory to the analysis of a real-world company. You must focus on the key branding issues and answer the assigned questions. You must incorporate business, trade, and academic literature to support/justify your ideas. Unsubstantiated statements will not provide credibility to your discussion.
Your report should include:
- Your answers to the discussion questions (which are included in the Case Study document to be posted in CANVAS.
- References
Things to consider for the case study:
- Identification and analysis of the relevant issues and concepts relating to the case
- Use of relevant branding theories.
- A logical analysis that is consistent with the topic in the case and advances evidence in favour of the arguments
Case Study and Questions- Chemist Warehouse
Chemist Warehouse: Case Overview
Assessment Questions
1. Using the Brand Equity Model (brand awareness, perceived quality, brand associations, brand loyalty), evaluate how Chemist Warehouse has built strong brand equity in Australia despite - or perhaps because of - its deliberately "no-frills," discount-warehouse retail environment.
2. Evaluate Chemist Warehouse's core brand elements against Keller's criteria for choosing brand elements (memorability, meaningfulness, likeability, transferability, adaptability, protectability). Which criteria does the brand score highly on, and which create risk as the chain expands internationally into markets?
3. Using Keller's Brand Resonance Pyramid, assess Chemist Warehouse's ability to achieve behavioral loyalty (repeat visits), attitudinal attachment, sense of community, and active engagement. Which of these four is weakest, and what could the brand do to strengthen it?
2. Case Overview - Bunnings
Assessment Questions
1. Using Keller's Customer-Based Brand Equity (CBBE) Model, evaluate how Bunnings has built strong brand salience in Australia. Discuss the role of its distinctive brand assets (e.g., block logo, green-and-white color scheme, warehouse format and sausage sizzle) in CBBE.
2. Analyse the launch of PowerPass Pro Rewards through the lens of Keller's Brand Resonance Model. To what extent can the six-tier loyalty program strengthen/weaken the brand resonance model among its customers?
3. Using Keller's Brand Resonance Model, explain what factors helped the company achieve strong brand resonance compared with competing retailers?
