1. Ethical Leadership and culture:

1.1 The ethical philosophy of an organisation is usually embedded into the culture of the organisation by its leaders. Describe what ‘leadership by example' is and how it helps create an ethical culture.

1.2 Explain what codes of ethics are and state in what ways these codes help managers in the controlling function.

1.3 Discuss your opinions on whether or not the concept of ‘spirituality' in organisational culture would make that organisation behave more ethically and if it would make it easier for staff to whistle-blow.

2. Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility:

2.1 Research your selected organisation and describe in detail the unethical practice(s) it is alleged to have used.

2.2 There are opposing views on ethical behaviour within organisations. Based on your research in question 2.1, explain two opposing viewpoints on the organisations ethical behaviour. Your explanation must:

a) Describe two opposing viewpoints on whether or not the alleged actions are ethical or unethical and why; and

b) Describe your personal viewpoint on whether or not you believe the alleged actions to be ethical or unethical and why.

2.3 All organisations leave a carbon-footprint on the planet. Describe two ways the organisation you researched is trying to become ‘greener.' Your description should explain:

a) The sustainability practices it has put in place; and

b) The type of sustainability approach you believe this to be and why.

If the organisation does not have ‘green' practices, select a company in the same industry (i.e., a competitor) and report on their sustainability practices.

2.4 Explain the Classical View and Socioeconomic View of social responsibility. In your explanation state why you think these opposing views will or will not work for modern organisations.

2.5 Describe the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy or policy of the organisation you researched. If the company does not have a CSR strategy, choose a company from the same industry and describe their CSR strategy.

2.6 Identify a minimum of two stakeholders the CSR strategy impacts and describe how they benefit from the CSR initiatives.

2.7 There are three ‘Attitudes' to social responsibility. State your personal opinion on which of the three ‘attitudes' can be applied to the CSR strategy of the organisation you researched. Explain why you believe this to be the most appropriate CSR ‘attitude' of the organisation.
