A new transfer line is being planned. From experience, the line designer believes workstation reliabilities can be devided into three types of stations. Type 1 stations fail about every 1000 cycles and average 10 minutes for repair. Type 2 stations fail every 500 cycles on average and take 5 minutes to repair. Type 3 stations fail only once in about 100,000 cycles but take on the order of 1 hour to repair. The current line design has 6 type 1 stations, 5 type 2 stations, and 20 type 3 stations. No buffers are planned. Cycle time for this design is 0.5 minutes. Estimate the lines's effectiveness. State your assumptions.
