Question

Dana's polarizing language reinforces the enmity between the privileged and the marginalized. Her saint, or "walking hurt," encourages her to take bloody revenge on the suburbanites who have seemingly taken everything from her and her family. She even rejects Gren's love for Dylan, claiming he is "one of them." This intergenerational trauma doesn't lessen over time; in fact, it seems to grow alongside the development of Willa's expansionist ambitions. This resembles the historical abuses against marginalized groups that the powerful elite has covered up, justified, or glorified in their records and revisions of history.
