Today's typical workplaces are many and varied. The group dynamics affecting these workplaces can vary just as much. The work from home movement in recent years has increased familiarity and comfortability, in my opinion because regardless of group size, you have coworkers and supervisors in your home even if only digitally. The sizes of groups can be many times larger via the web with alot less logistics involved, which may increase knowledge spread, but also may decrease participation by individuals. My line of work specifically, for example, has interaction with a limited number of individuals (3-4 at a time) increasing the familiarity of those individuals with each other and strengthening confidence in those bonds. There are a few working supervisors in the field, but the jobs are mostly specialized, so working toward a common goal with little supervision is the daily rhythm. The minimal supervision drops formality and increases the responsibility for each individual to maintain vigilance and adhere to standards.
