Steve is the president of Food Warehouse, Inc. His company manages a food warehouse that stores food from local farmers and then delivers it to restaurants and grocery stores. Steve hired several drivers to make food deliveries, but during the hiring process he did not check the drivers' safety records. In fact several of his employees have multiple drunk driving charges. The manager of the warehouse told Steve that some of the employees were drinking on the job and were drunk when they made the food deliveries. Steve knew he should look into this but he was lazy and failed to do so. Last week one of the drivers was drunk and caused an accident, resulting in serious injuries to the occupants of the vehicle that he hit. There's no question that the drunk employee can face criminal charges, but Steve wonders if it's possible that he, too, might face criminal charges. What do you think?
