Estimates suggest that streaming video accounts for more than 60% of all downstream internet traffic worldwide (in which data are received by a computer or network). The number of streaming video providers has proliferated, with many cable or broadcast television channels also streaming their content online, and digital gaming accounts for a growing percentage of usage. Established providers such as Netflix and YouTube continue to claim a significant share of streaming video traffic in the United States. If you are a Netflix customer, the product shows up on a screen while you stream it and then disappears when you're done. You never handle it or need to find a place to store it. For this reason, it might seem that supply chain management wouldn't be as critical for companies such as Netflix as it is for companies such as Walmart. However, providers of intangible services also need to manage their supply chain.
