The Milgram Obedience Studies and the Stanford Prison Experiment as well as the Asch Studies (see text pp. 318-322) have been criticized for being unethical. Some people feel that some of these studies should not be included in textbooks or classes because of their ethical transgressions. Conversely, other people believe valuable data regarding obedience and conformity were acquired from these studies and should be included in psychology classes. In your opinion, do you think we should continue to learn about and reference these studies? Does the benefit (knowledge) outweigh the harm that may have been done to the participants?
