For this assignment please use theory, information and skills learned in class. This assignment is designed to help students use "real life" experiences and relationships to think about and practice. Your paper should be 2 to 3 pages in length (double spaced). Please choose one of the topics below that you feel most interested in. A works cited page must also be included. Please cite your sources in MLA format. Please use a 12-point font and either Times New Roman or Calibri. You must use your book and at least two other sources.

Option 1:

Many television shows and movies base their jokes on stereotypical communication problems between men and women or between people from different cultures. Find an example that uses culture and communication in this way then discuss how your example embodies or violates principles discussed of your text. Also address how the media could better represent communication between people from different cultures.

Option 2:

"Effectiveness or competence in conversation and following the appropriate conversational rules will contribute to your own interpersonal attractiveness." Do you agree or disagree? Explain why.

Option 3:

Recall an encounter where you were saying something important, but the other person gave you negative feedback. Explain what happened and how the negative feedback affected your communication during the interaction. Did this influence future communication? Also discuss if negative feedback is ever competent.

Option 4:

Do men and women use non-verbal expression differently? Find research and/or studies that support your view.
