In contending that *illegality" is "socially constructed", Flores and Schachter argue in their article, who are the illegals, the social construction of illegality in the United States that processes of categorization lead to a divergence between the social and legal dimensions of "illegality", , such that some people who are unauthorized are not so perceived, whereas other people who are authorized are perceived as "illegal".
