Let's assume that you are in a restaurant and overhear a conversation at the next table between some insiders to a publicly traded Corporation were discussing the fact that the Corporation will be coming out with something in the near future that will be revolutionary to the market, and will likely increase the price of the stock. Of course, this is insider information, and not something known to the public. You then go out and trade in the stock for this Corporation and profit as the price rises and you sell it. Are you guilty of insider trading?
