Assignment:

Why do violent crime offenders have higher recidivism rates than non-violent crime offenders?

Discusses violent and non-violent crimes and the recidivism rates that are associated with them. Research shows that those that have previously been arrested for committing violent offenses are more likely to be arrested again. This is due to them engaging in other violent crimes. One reason that they re-offend is that they have a more difficult time finding a job that they desire due to their criminal background. They also re-offend due to the fact that when some leave prison, they are either homeless or there are not enough resources such as counseling that will prevent them from committing criminal behaviors.

What other reasons could also contribute to violent criminals having higher recidivism rates? What can be done to decrease the recidivism rate for violent offenders?
