Case: There is a lot of debate about the pros and cons of using genetically modified organisms (GMO's) in various industries. Related to this week's lesson is the use of genetic modification in agriculture, but genetic modification can extend to many industries, including the production of medicine.

Oftentimes, when discussing issues associated with the environment, the decision on what to do is not clear, as there can be valid arguments made for or against the principle. In this discussion, please make an educated decision as to whether you do or do not support the genetic modification of organisms. There is no one correct answer! The key is to back up your statements with real, scientific evidence.

Below are some resources to help you out. You are also welcome to find outside sources, but please provide a citation for each source. The citations must include the name of the website or article and the full website address (URL). Also, any resources you decide to use must be from reputable/credible resources such as universities and government agencies (not just random websites from the internet or videos made by activist groups).

Question 1: Identify and explain three arguments for the use of GMO's

Question 2: Identify and explain three arguments against the use of GMO's

Question 3: Discuss whether you are for or against the use of GMO's and explain why you take this position (if you can't decide, explain why you are for the use of GMO's in some instances and against it in others).
