Introduction
The information in this module discusses the landmark Leandro Case. Twice the Supreme Court has ruled (1997, 2004) that North Carolina has a constitutional obligation to ensure all children have access to a sound basic education. In March 2022, the NC Supreme Court has agreed to take on the question of whether the courts can order the state to increase funding for public schools.The case is still ongoing.

Reflect on the video: "Leandro: The Case for a Sound Basic Education." Review the article: The Leandro Case Explained: "What to Know About NC's School Funding Dispute." Twice the Supreme Court has ruled (1997, 2004) that North Carolina has a constitutional obligation to ensure all children have access to a sound basic education that includes competent and well-trained teachers and principals, as well as equitable access to sufficient resources. Complete the reflective journal assignment using the topics assigned:

1. Reflect on the information presented in the video and the article. One strategy educators use in teaching young children is the use of sensory learning. Using your senses, explain what a "sound basic education for all children "looks and sounds" like to you.
2. Reflect on how long the Leandro Case has been in the news. The case started in 1994 and is still ongoing. Put yourself in the following scenario: You are having a discussion with parents about the Leandro Case. One parent asks: " What is taking so long?" What would be your authentic response to the parent?:)
