To answer these questions, you must read the book, by Stephanie Coontz.

this is an essay. You must have a thesis statement, an introduction, and a conclusion. You must make a minimum of four references/citations from the book to support you argument. Write a minimum of 3-5 pages, using 11 pt font and 1 inch margins all the way around.

5. According to the author, what is Ã¢â‚¬Å"good parenting?Ã¢â‚¬Â What is the myth of Ã¢â‚¬Å"parental omnipotence? What are the dangers associated with our focus on these 2 myths? Do you agree with her assessment?

6. Discuss the stereotypes associated with black family life in the US today. What role do you think slavery has played in the development of those myths?

7. What is the Ã¢â‚¬Å"crisis of the family?Ã¢â‚¬Â Is this a real crisis? Is this just a crisis in white society? Do you think the government can/should pass laws to stop this crisis?
