Question: The United States seems to rely more on monetary policy to maintain stable prices, low interest rates, low unemployment, and healthy economic growth. Do the facts that the United States has really embraced global trade (imports and exports combined are over 25% of GDP) and we have a flexible (floating) exchange rate help explain why monetary policy seems more important than fiscal policy?
