Question: Select one risk factor, conduct research, and discuss an example of a crime or criminal that supports your belief and position that the risk factor is a causal factor in the expression of criminal behavior.

Then research and find another example that doesn't support your concept that a particular risk factor has a causal influence on criminal behavior. Examples of developmental risk factors are listed in the article and also include factors such as poverty, peer rejection, and permissive parental style. An example of support for the risk factor of lower intelligence being a causal factor in criminal behavior would be the infamous serial killers Henry Lucas and Ottis Toole. Both were shown to be borderline mentally handicapped.
