Assignment: Final Paper Topic Selection
You may submit this as a word document or directly in the "Comment" box. Regardless of which submission avenue, state what Topic you are choosing for your 4-part Assignment series in this class. It is important to consider and refine your topic early however, as it could be very easy to become side-tracked or 'lost in the weeds' of possibilities. Your submission should be one paragraph in length, identifying your topic and why you think it is appropriate for this course. You need to include at least 1 reference/web link indicating this is a feasible research topic.
Your topic choices are truly open-ended, provided they relate to the course focus of the connections between science fiction and societies. Some ideas to help you brainstorm:
1. Choose a famous science fiction author: discuss biography, education and formal training (scientific or otherwise), notable political opinions, and any relevant predictions or scenarios in the author's fictional writings.
2. Choose to research a particular technology with roots or inspiration in science fiction. In this case, you will need to discuss the technical details, predicted and what ultimately went to market, and how the technology was envisioned in science fiction compared to how it is used and impacts society today.
