Question: 1. X, a student, was stopped by the police, based on reasonable suspicion, after midnight in the suburbs of Los Angeles and detained for one hour. Was his detention valid? Give reasons for your answer.

2. Y was stopped by the police at dawn in a Miami, Florida, suburb because he looked suspicious, was wearing heavy clothing although it had been a warm night, looked lost in the neighborhood, and acted nervous upon seeing the police. Was the stop valid? Analyze each of the reasons specified above and determine if, in and of themselves, they justify the stop. Would your answer be different or the same if all of these circumstances were taken together? Explain.
