Do males and females have different preferences for features of smartphones? A manufacturer surveys a sample of males and females about their preference between two different versions of a calendar program. An SRS of 200 males finds 150 prefer version A. An SRS of 100 females finds 70 prefer version A. The p-value for a test of no difference in preference for version A between the two sexes is 0.36. Which of the following is correct?

1) There is a 36% chance that males have the same preference for version A as females.

2) The preference for version A by males is 36% larger than that of females.

3) The chances of seeing this size difference is not that unusual as it would happen 36% of the time if males and females had the same preference.

4) There is a 36% chance that the difference in preference rates is real and not just a sampling artifact.
